This platform is for educational purposes only. It does not qualify or authorize users to work on battery energy storage systems. BESS equipment presents serious hazards and must only be serviced by properly trained, qualified, and authorized personnel in accordance with applicable codes, standards, OEM requirements, and site procedures.
Course Overview
Proper cabling and wiring verification is critical to BESS safety, reliability, and performance. Incorrect cable landing, inadequate torque, or missing grounding connections can result in system faults, equipment damage, or catastrophic failure.
The course covers universal inspection standards, AC and DC cable landing verification, grounding system checks, AC distribution pre-energization procedures, and phase rotation testing. It includes field videos shot at a PowerTitan 1 v3 (PT-1 v3) site.
By the end of this training, you will be able to:
- Apply safety protocols and LOTO procedures specific to BESS installations before beginning any cabling inspection
- Inspect, verify, and document DC and AC cable installations for correct landing, labeling, and termination quality
- Confirm grounding connections meet installation requirements on all BESS units and PCS
- Execute the 480V pre-energization sequence, verify phase rotation, and record baseline measurements for commissioning handoff
This training is intended as a general guide. The content presented is not a comprehensive list of all items requiring inspection or all possible site conditions you may encounter.
For equipment-specific procedures, detailed maintenance requirements, and site-specific protocols, always refer to:
- Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals and documentation
- Your company’s standard operating procedures
- Site-specific inspection and maintenance protocols
When conflicts arise between this training and OEM instructions or company procedures, always follow the OEM instructions and your company’s procedures.
