Why This Training Exists

Winter Storm Uri (February 2021) caused 246 deaths and $195 billion in damages. Texas responded with mandatory weatherization requirements under 16 TAC §25.55. Non-compliance can result in penalties up to $1,000,000 per day and potential removal from the ERCOT market.

Critical Deadline:

Winter weatherization declarations must be submitted by November 1st annually. All preparation measures must be completed by December 1st.

What You’ll Be Able to Do After This Training

This isn’t theory—it’s practical skills you’ll use immediately:

✓ Complete Your Winter Declaration Without Errors
You’ll practice with the actual ERCOT forms and Appendix A spreadsheet. No guessing—you’ll know exactly what information is required and how to document it correctly.
Impact: Avoids rejection and re-submission delays
✓ Identify Every Cold Weather Critical Component at Your Facility
Using ERCOT’s official BESS sample lists, you’ll learn to identify all components that must be protected—from battery thermal management systems to meteorological station heaters.
Impact: Prevents missed components during inspections
✓ Pass an ERCOT Inspection on First Visit
You’ll work through the actual inspection checklist ERCOT uses. You’ll know what inspectors look for, what documentation they’ll ask to see, and what questions staff need to answer.
Impact: No surprise findings, no cure periods, no follow-ups
✓ Train Your Team to Maintain Compliance
You’ll understand the monthly testing requirements (Nov-Mar), know what training records to keep, and be able to explain emergency procedures to your operational staff.
Impact: Sustained compliance, not just one-time fixes
